The DILLWEED SOCIETY

ABOUT US

The Dillweed Society is a collective of movie-lovers, film-buffs, and cinephiles who annually come together to nominate some of the greatest films of that year in The Annual Dillweed Society Excellence in Film Awards. We are an all inclusive cooperative! The Society is in its sixth year of existence and is the creation of siblings Max and Isabella Scribner.

Founded during the Coronavirus pandemic, The Dillies were driven by the lack of recognition given to 2020 films (due to closed theaters). We focused on honoring all the great films to come out without that theatrical release. From indie films to block busters, The Dillies hoped to recognize all filmmakers and bring attention to the great work that can still be generated even in the midst of a pandemic. Years later, our principles of honoring the under-appreciated and underrepresented in the same ceremony as the mainstream remain, hoping to collectively bring together a group of movie-lovers with diverse interests. For more info, see our Rules and Responsibilities.

Throughout the years, The Dillweed Society has formed an increasingly unique awards show— sporting totally one-of-a-kind and creative impermanent categories, innovative sets and characters, artistic direction driven by the previous winners, wondrous music, and sketch commercials to pass the time. Please see our archive to watch the evolution of previous ceremonies.

We are not exclusive. The Dillies are for the people!

Being a Dilly Sociate means you get to participate in nominating your favorite films from this past year and collectively voting in each of the yearly categories!
